The founder who started the Company in 1947, known then as Agrimotors, was John Hunt and, as the name suggests, he was trained as an Agricultural Engineer and Motor Mechanic.

When Tony left school in 1965 his father ran 3 school buses under the name of A.M.G Coaches. Tony did a one day a week release apprenticeship as a Motor Mechanic and drove a minibus on school runs until he was old enough to take his PSV driving test in 1971.
Tony and his friend, Charlie Hookway of Hookways Coaches at Meeth, had been together throughout their education at Torrington Secondary School and also good friends out of school. They both shared the same interests of garages and coaches. In 1976 they both joined forces and formed Taw and Torridge Coaches together with their fathers. Three years later Tony bought Hookways out of Taw andTorridge and continued on his own. Tony and Charlie remained best of friends and helped each other out in many ways within both their Companies until the sudden death of Charlie in 2004.

Tony now has all his family in the Company business with him. Linda, his wife, is the Company Secretary and also in charge of all invoicing etc. Mark, his son, is the Operations Manager responsible for all day to day vehicles operations including quotations, staff etc. Tracey, his daughter, is the Wages Manager and deals with holidays and tours as well as having a busy life with a young family. Chris, Tracey's husband, is the General Manager whose main priority is maintaining the coach fleet. Chris is a very experienced Engineer and this is reflected in the standard of the 40 vehicle fleet, which are known for their quality, condition and reliability. All the family are directors within the company and Tony can now be rest assured that the company will continue well into the future in safe hands and carry on with the 'attention to detail' which he has built up during the past 40 years.
